One More Good Weekend for Fresh Peaches

Happy Thursday Reader,

Peach season always seems to disappear faster than expected. This week gives you three good ways to enjoy the fruit now and later. One is warm and cozy, one heads straight to the freezer, and one belongs in a cold glass.

Peach Crisp

Scoop of peach crisp on a plate topped with whipped cream.

Ripe peaches soften beneath a craggy golden topping. The warm fruit needs very little fuss. Add a cool spoonful of cream at the table.

Bake the crisp

This 8x8 baking pan is a handy size for a bubbling fruit crisp.

Freezing peaches

Sliced peaches on tray ready for freezing

A tray of peach slices saves summer for colder months. The simple method prevents one solid frozen block. Future cobblers just got easier.

Freeze the peaches

These reusable freezer bags keep peach slices organized for smoothies and desserts.

Peach Juice

Jar of beautiful yellow peach juice surrounded by fresh peaches and peach branches.

Fresh peach juice tastes like the season in a glass. Its color alone makes the batch inviting. Chill it well before pouring.

Make the juice

This jelly bag strainer helps produce clear peach juice without bits of pulp.

Fresh From Bees Haven

The Carrot’s Cousins That Bees and Butterflies Can’t Resist

Daucus carota flower, Queen Anne's lace in a green field.

Familiar carrot relatives feed more than the kitchen. Their flowers bring bees and butterflies into the late-summer garden.

Meet the plant family

Use the ripest peaches first and save the rest for later. September will taste a little sunnier because of it.

Enjoy! And have fun cooking!
